Danish Christmas cards

Danes are tremendously fond of sending Christmas cards and I am sure this is also a way to keep in touch with their friends and relatives or to re-connect with them.
I have picked up this habit myself and I can tell you, it works! Especially as an expat, you might not have many chances to meet your friends and with all the challenges of building a new life in another country you might not write so often. And before you know it, all your friends have disappeared. Since I picked up the habit of writing Christmas cards, I am staying in touch with many more as I did before.

Besides postage stamps, people often also stick on “Christmas stamps”, which support charitable causes. Those familiar with Christmas stamps from their own country may be interested to know that the world‘s first Christmas stamp was issued in 1904 in Denmark.
Note: These stamps are just decoration and don’t substitute the normal stamps!
Similarly to postage stamps, you can buy Christmas stamps in any post office.
