Welcome back!

Dear all. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas time and that you made it well into 2013.
Wish you all the best for this year!

Successful at (finding) work in Denmark

When talking to newcomers to Denmark the two main factors for settling successfully seem to be: having professional success and building a network.
Professional success can mean something different to each of us. For those who have been looking for work for long it may mean to finally find a job, for others it means to change into a job that fits better to current knowledge and wishes. Building a network as well can mean different things. It can mean to find a close set of friends, to find Danish friends, to build a professional network etc.
In 2013, we have decided to direct our focus to these two topics and of course we will add some more as new information comes up. We will have quizzes you can participate in online, we will have events where you can meet others and we will have interesting and inspiring articles, which (like all our work) will support you with new "tools" on tackling the challenges of your life in Denmark.

Today we have prepared an article around the most frequently asked questions about finding work in Denmark.

New career opportunities in 2013

A New Year brings new career opportunities. If your New Year’s resolution is to invest in yourself, perhaps this tale can be inspiring. Like many others before her, South African Ledile Chuene found out that learning Danish is no easy task. Making sacrifices to attain your career goal and create a better life is even harder. Find out why doing a Full-time MBA at Copenhagen Business School has all been worth it for this South African participant.

Successful in Denmark at work. Decoding Danish work culture

Adapt your actions to your Danish "audience"
If you apply for a job in Denmark or if you deal with your Danish colleagues and customers in the same way as you have done in your country, you may be lucky and get the results you want but chances are high that you may not be seen as the best candidate for a job opening or that you cannot convince with your arguments and you will have missed your chance. I am not saying that you need to change your way of being to be successful at work in Denmark. But by knowing more about the Danish work culture you will automatically do certain things differently. It’s a bit like with your mother-in-law. By knowing what she likes and what she doesn’t you will not change yourself but you will adapt your behavior somewhat and suddenly some things will work better.

JJ's feedback: Your book is very successful within our company. I think it is very to the point and also entertaining to read as a Dane.
